The Department of Public Administration of Padjadjaran University was officially established on August 12, 1960, based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Teaching of the Republic of Indonesia Number 66971/Law/60, the nomenclature of the study program when it was first established as State Administration Science. Study Program operational license based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Number 146/DIKTI/KEP/2007.

The structure of the Department of Public Administration of Padjadjaran University is under the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP). The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences was established on October 13, 1958, with the initial name of the Faculty of State Administration and Commerce. However, on December 8, 1983, the name of the Faculty of Social Sciences was changed to the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) through the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1574/1/1983.

The Department of Public Administration Universitas Padjadjaran organizes 4 study programs: Bachelor of Public Administration, Bachelor of Applied Public Financial Administration, Master of Public Policy, and Postgraduate in Public Administration. Since 2013, the Department of Public Administration has been conducting classes with Sunkyunkwan University, where all courses are conducted in English. The Department of International Relations of Padjadjaran University is located on two campuses, namely: Jatinangor Sumedang Campus and Dago Bandung Campus, which are easily accessible..

The Department of Public Administration of Padjadjaran University is one of Indonesia’s most popular study programs, as evidenced by the large number of applicants in this program. In selecting new student admissions in 2022, the level of strictness is 1:36. This can be attributed to the rigorous academic standards and stringent student admission criteria upheld by Padjadjaran University’s Department of Public Administration.
